After the fierce competition between the 25 teams who had made it into the finals of ‘Techathlon 2022′, the teams from Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, emerged victorious. Team Silvak, Techys, and ZeOne, all three from Saintgits, secured first, second, and third positions. The annual technical skills competition organized by the ICT Academy focuses on relevant themes each year, and this time the chosen theme was ‘Metaverse’. ICT Academy of Kerala joined hands with TCS to organize the event this year.
Techathlon 2022, which happened in June-July, saw the participation of 130 teams who made it past the initial phase out of the 150 registered. Each group had two to three members. The soon-to-be techie experts from various educational institutions across Kerala participated in this technological marathon. During the initial stage of this competition, all 150 teams received a 25-hour long, highly productive training in Metaverse, conducted by industry experts from Tata Consultancy Services.
The final lap
In the second phase, the contestants had to build a Metaverse out of 13 themes in the given time. Based on the performance of building the Metaverse, 25 teams got selected for the final lap. The grand finale was at the Kerala Technology Innovation Zone, Kochi, on 30th July 2022. Here in this stage, the participants competed on a common platform to showcase their talents and connect with peers outside their work. Industry experts evaluated their projects and awarded the best teams.
Meet the winners
Based on their performance in building the Metaverse, an emerging technology that came into the limelight after Facebook’s announcement, 25 teams qualified for the final round. The finalists were announced in the third week of July, giving them ample time to prepare for the finale. After showcasing their technical and communication skills in the final round, the three teams among the eight from Saintgits emerged victorious. An unquestionable clean sweep by them!
Aaron Abraham Shibu, Adithyakiran M. Kurup, and Arun Vasanth of team Silvak came in the first position in the competition. Adithya Prem, Abhay P. Biju, and Annu Rose Sebastien of team Techys were the runners-up and Annie Ann Abraham and Dena Maria George of team Zeone reached the third position. The first, second, and third winners will receive fifty thousand, twenty-five thousand, and ten thousand, respectively. The prize distribution will happen as part of a prime event hosted by the ICT Academy of Kerala in the third week of September this year.
