ICT Academy of Kerala (ICTAK) has organized the Academia Meetup events at Kozhikode (Multipurpose Hall, UL CyberPark), Kochi (Hotel Elite Palazzo, Angamaly), and Thiruvananthapuram (Hycinth Hotels, Thampanoor) on 2022 May 23, 24, and 26 respectively. These meetup events briefed the higher educational institutions about the activities of ICTAK, introduced various skill development initiatives done for empowering the students/faculties, and explained ways to collaborate with us. The program also discussed topics related to the trends in the industry, the value proposition for academia, new initiatives in government, and the experience of working with ICTAK.
Kozhikode Event
The first Academia Meetup event was on 23rd May 2022 and the venue was the Multipurpose Hall of UL Cyber Park, Calicut. 110 faculty members of various Science, Engineering, Polytechnics, MBA, and ITI from 54 institutions across the North region of the state have participated in the meetup. Mr. Sreenath Moorchilot from Busifrog Tech Pvt. Ltd. detailed the major differences between AR & VR and he also highlighted the relevance of Metaverse Technology in the coming years. Following that, officials from TCS, Mr. Michael Mathews and Mr. Vishnu Sivan demonstrated the Metaverse Technology to participants with their device. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
Kochi Event
The second meetup session was on 24th May 2022 at Hotel Elite Palazzo, Angamaly. A total of 98 participants from 50 colleges have attended the program. Mr. Binu Sanker from E&Y described the ‘Change in Trends in Job Prospects’ and their latest initiatives virtually. Mr. Micheal Mathews and Mr. Vishnu Sivan from TCS has presented the details about Metaverse Technology and demonstrated the product. The program concluded with an experience-sharing session with Dr. Ajims P. Muhammed (Principal, MES College), Dr. Bijoy C. (Assistant Professor, Christ Autonomous College) and Dr. Manish T.I. (HOD, Adi Shankara Institute of Science & Technology) have shared their experience with ICTAK.
Thiruvananthapuram Event
The third day of the Academia Meetup was on 26th May 2022 at Hycinth Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram. More than a hundred officials and academicians from nearly sixty institutions attended the function. Officials from TCS, Ms. Resmi Mukundan, and Mr. Vishnu Sivan, demonstrated the Metaverse Technology and detailed the differences between augmented and virtual reality. They also highlighted the relevance of this technology in the upcoming years. Following that, Mr. S.R. Dawn from E&Y briefed about the existing collaboration with ICTAK, the change in trends in the job prospects, and the latest initiatives they can offer to academic institutions in association with ICTAK, mainly industrial visits and pre-placement orientation. The event concluded with a Q&A session.
Mr. Santhosh Kurup (CEO, ICT Academy of Kerala) delivered the opening remark and discussed the repositioning of training from ICTAK into; digital technologies, digital infrastructure, enterprise systems, and workforce enablement. He also briefed about the Premium Membership Model offered by ICTAK. Mr. Sajan M. (Head, Academic Operations Unit, ICTAK) welcomed the gatherings at different venues, and the representative Regional Managers, Mr. Sinjith S. (Central Zone) and Dr. Deepa V.T. (South Zone) thanked the participants.
