Onam is a festival of togetherness and happiness, and the ICTions celebrated ‘Arpo… Erro…’ the Onam 2022 event in its whole spirit. To reflect the total vibe and to share moments, associates of the ICT Academy of Kerala came together at the head office here in T’puram on the 1st of this month.
The head of finance, Mr. Gopinathan Nair, lit the traditional lamp while all others cheered, “Arpo… Erro…” marking the beginning of the day-long event. Mr. Santhosh Kurup, the CEO, delivered the welcome address for the programme. Earlier, members put together a colorful and adorant flower carpet at the front office reception.
A team of eight members then performed the Thiruvathirakali, stepping elegantly to the familiar song “Kaithappoo manamenthe…”. The Onasadya, with three varieties of payasam, served on plantain leaves, was a major attraction. Cultural events, with a lot of songs and dancing, filled the rest of the day. Active participation of everyone made it all more funny and joyful. To ensure maximum participation, associates were grouped into different teams – Atham, Avittam, Chithira, Chathayam and Uthradam; a few names of the ten-day Onam celebration.
There were competitions such as Malayalee Manka and Kerala Sreeman, Lemon & Spoon, Saree Draping for Men, Mustache for Maveli, and Musical Chair. Wherever judging was required, Mr. Robin Tommy (Head, Rapid Labs, TCS) and Ms. Limi Rose Tom joined the CEO in forming the panel. The winners of the competitions and games received cash prizes in the form of Amazon Gift Vouchers at the end of the day. Team Chathayam came top in the points tally with maximum participation and winners.
The spirit and the enthusiasm reached their zenith when Maveli and Puli entered the premises accompanied by the Chendamelam group. Thanks to Mr. Muhammed Sanal and Mr. Ananthu Krishna P.K. for their respective transformations. A team of ICT men also participated in the Tug of War conducted by Prathidhwani.
The eventful day ended with the CEO distributing the Onam gift packets to all the associates. The celebration of Onam comes only once a year, and ‘Arpo… Erro…’ had all that making sure the enthusiasm lasts in the minds until the next time.
The event was organized by the HR department and the Admin team, with support from all other operating units, making it a grand success.
