ICT Academy of Kerala is proudly announcing the 4th edition of Techathlon event – Techathlon 2020. Techathlon is a unique technical contest designed in line with employability skills assessments conducted by Global Organizations. Techathlon offers a platform for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the country to showcase their 21st century skills.

ICTAK Techathlon is a National Level Technical Fest organized by ICT Academy of Kerala every year. Techathlon is a unique technical contest designed in line with employability skills assessments conducted by Global Organizations. This is an event open to all the undergraduate, graduate and post graduate students across the country where the participants can exhibit and depict their creativity, problem solving, collaboration, communication and prototyping skills. The participants will have to identify a real-life problem from their surroundings/locality and submit a proposal that clearly define the problem and describe the probable solution for the problem. There will be contests that test various skills of the participants.

The contests will be evaluated and assessed by industry experts drawn from various and multiple technology domains.  The event offers a unique opportunity for the participants to interact with the industry experts during the evaluation process, which will help them to augment their skills and knowledge on their respective areas. The contest is open to students from various institutions and Universities across India coming from general and professionals streams and also from all levels which includes undergraduates, graduates, and post graduates.

Steps

Stage-1: Empathize,Define and Ideate​

In stage 1 the participating teams should identify a real-life problem from their surroundings/locality and submit a proposal that clearly define the problem and describe the probable solution for the problem. The solution should have a connect to IR 4.0 technologies or related fields.  The project proposal needs to be submitted on of before December 20, 2019.

Based on the screening of project proposals submitted, top 30 teams from each region will be selected for the regional rounds, scheduled to be held in the southern, central and northern regions of Kerala – preferably in Trivandrum, Kochi and Calicut. The selected teams will have to build a working prototype of their project idea before the next stage and make it available for evaluation during Stage 2 – regional round. ICT Academy of Kerala will provide an online Grooming Session for the qualified team members.

Stage-2: Regional Round Techathlon

In regional round of Techathlon, each team will have to participate in the  following events:

  • Working Prototype Demo
  • Coding & Debugging
  • Technical Treasure Hunt
  • Technical Quiz

The top 10 teams from each zone will be invited to participate in the final round which will be held at Govt Engineering College Trissur on February 6 – 8, 2020.

Stage-3: Techathlon Grand Finale​

The top 30 teams qualified from the regional rounds will have to participate in the following Grand Finale rounds:

  • Working Prototype Demo
  • Hackathon
  • Technical Treasure Hunt
  • Technical Quiz
  • Live Design Contest

There will be prizes worth Rs. 1 Lakh waiting for the winners and top performers of Techathlon 2020.

  • Rs. 50,000/- (Winners)
  • Rs.25,000/- (Runner-up)
  • Rs.15,000/- (3rd Prize)
  • Rs.10,000/- (Best Project Idea)

Rules and Requirements

  • The competition is open to teams of size FOUR.
  • There is no limit on number of entries from an institution. But teams should not be formed with members from multiple institutions.
  • Participants should be undergraduate or postgraduate students of AICTE/UGC/Govt. of India approved institutions.
  • Multiple submissions from teams are permitted, however separate registrations will be needed for multiple entries (in regional and Grand Finale).
  • The entries must not be in violation of any existing patents or copyrights.
  • A working model is essential for regional rounds and Grand Finale.
  • Register teams and submit the Project  Proposals on or before December 20, 2019
  • No Registration fee for Project Proposal Submission.
  • Teams qualified or regional round have to complete a registration (Rs.2000 per team)
  • The projects must align to the theme “IR 4.0 in Action” and must come under the categories mentioned below.

  • Provide a description of your project proposal (up to 500 words). Your description should cover how the entry works, what makes it novel, how it would be produced, and where it would be applied. Project proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
    • Innovation (Weightage: 50%)
      • What makes the design novel? Does it represent an important advance over current state of the art?
    • Manufacturability (Weightage: 25%)
      • How easy would it be to implement? Can it be cost-effectively manufactured/produced?
    • Marketability (Weightage: 25%)
      • Does the idea have practical applications? Is there a well-defined, significant market for its use?
  • The venues of the regional rounds will be announced later.
  • Teams qualified for the registration round have to complete a registration by paying Rs.2000 per team. There will not be any registration fee for the Grand Finale.
